YTXARTZ PORTFOLIO
1) What is your name?
---My name is YTX/Tingx (伊庭).2) Where are you from and what languages do you speak?
---I'm a Chinese Malaysian. I speak Chinese, English, Cantonese and Malay. Feel free to communicate with me in any of these languages.3) How old were you when you started drawing and how old are you now?
---I used to attend art classes back when I was in elementary school and quit around the time when I was reaching the end of middle school and rarely draw after that. I started drawing traditional art consistently again around 2020 and started drawing digitally around September 2021. I am born in the year 2003.4) How long do you take to complete an artwork?
---I don't really keep track but around 5 to 10 hours average.5) Do you use references?
---References are important during the early to late stages of learning to draw, so yes, I do take references when I'm practicing proportions, backgrounds and everything in general, but I do not completely copy another artist's work and subject it as my own artwork. What I do is light referencing for practices but most of the time, I do not use references for my illustrations unless I state it being a redraw. I try generating ideas most of the time without references to test my productivity of learning.6) What content do you usually draw?
---I usually draw my OCs and characters I like from certain fandoms that I'm part of including Genshin, Holy Trinity, Danmei (In General), MXTX and more. I also draw random Manhwa/Manhua Characters and Anime characters that I like time to time, It just depends on my mood and preferences.7) Do you reply to messages in social media?
---I will if I can. I might not reply if I missed the message or if I'm busy. I definitely will not ignore anyone on purpose.8) Can I repost your art work?
---I would appreciate if you ask for my permission first before posting and give proper credits if you do which includes proper credits in caption or pinned comment if my art was used in any Tiktok videos but do not ever repost my commissioned art works. If you are using my illustration as your profile picture, please leave credits in your bio. ---I usually open pre-orders 1-2 weeks prior to the event that I attend as a vendor and I will announce on my social media when I do so.
1) What device do you use for drawing?
---Ipad Pro 2020 11 inch.2) What software/app do you use for drawing?
---Procreate | Adobe Photoshop | Clip Studio Paint | MediBang Paint3) What type of brushes do you use for your illustrations?
---Most of the brushes I use are air brushes with pressure control. I use all three(soft, medium, hard) air brushes when applicable. I use the same type of brushes for both rendering and line art. I do use other brushes I find interesting and applicable for some of my illustrations but I do not use them regularly. I also duplicate the brushes I like in procreate and self customize them to the way I am comfortable with using them. I use the same type of brushes in Photoshop, MediBang and Clip Studio Paint. The brushes I'm comfortable with using are very common air brushes so it is very likely to be available in all sorts of illustration programs.4) Art tips?
---I personally don't think I'm experienced enough to provide tips or lecture others whether or not they should do something to change the way they draw but I do get a lot of request on drawing tips without any contexts so I'm going to provide some general knowledge I've learned to get this far.
.
1. Do not dwell too much in brush choices, I realize a lot of people blame the brushes they use for getting an outcome in their illustration that they didn't want and to be honest I have done that too. Brushes are one of the most minimal cause of an unwanted outcome of an illustration. I do get that they do play a huge part because different brushes gives a different type of effect in an illustration. I would suggest experimenting on what brushes you feel most comfortable in and learn how to use it to its maximum potential and I wouldn't suggest changing your main brush regularly for different illustrations because brushes play a huge role in achieving your regular art style so changing it regularly might let you notice that your art style changes a lot and you might end up having trouble settling with an art style which is very important for an artist because an art style is like a trademark which helps attract the audiences you are showing it to.
.
2. I often get questions like "How do I improve?" or "How can I learn to draw like a pro artist?" Firstly, these type of questions are very general, too vast and very unspecific. Most artists are unable to come up with an answer for these questions except "practice" which is a phase everyone hates hearing. So to elaborate on the term "practice", I would suggest to look for references online, which I use pinterest the most, and practice redrawing the subject of the references, for example if you want to improve on drawing hands, then you search for hand references on pinterest and you redraw it, be creative with it if you want, you don't have to reference other artist's illustrations. It would be recommended to practice on real life model references too. Secondly, if you are a digital artist like me, I would suggest to learn all the features of the program or software you are using to draw. Because you will find it very useful in the future if you keep track of where to find the features because you never know when you are going to need it. To learn most of the features of the program I'm using, I just searched for tutorial videos. I would also strongly recommend watching tutorial videos to learn drawing because most artists are visual learners, its hard to learn with a textbook with a bunch of words.
